Ordinance ModernizationWhats the Status

It’s been over a month since we’ve posted anything on the topic of the legal golf cart zone expansions and the newly approved – but not yet implemented – golf cart crossing locations.  This is because the city had a number of minor hurdles to clear.   Many residents have reached out on our web site (via the “contact us” page) or on our Facebook page, and asked the magic question we all want to know:   When?   or How Much Longer?

Our city’s Planning Director contacted us today and informed us that they have finally received all of the necessary drawing approvals and signatures. Every change comes with an official traffic engineering drawing, and those drawings need a wide variety of approvals and signatures. These have all been received.  The city informs us that there are more than 50 signs to be installed and several roads that need to be painted and marked.

The city staff has officially asked the City Manager to plan for an official “opening” or On Air date of Saturday October 5th, 2019.  This is the most current official information we have at this time.

In the meantime, you might want to check out the newly developed interactive GIS Map. At the time of writing this article, the map reflects the current ordinance zone and crossing, not the future state. Regardless, this gives us a chance to familiarize ourselves with the look and feel of this electronically layered, interactive map. No more guessing, and no more stretching PDFs on a smart phone. This map works on any electronic internet-enabled device (tablets, phones, computers, etc.) – so the map is always available to us on the go, and it can be zoomed in right down the individual street level.  The map has been linked to our Zone Map button above, and it is also linked HERE.
